"And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 10:48).

Baptism has always been a hallmark of the Christian religion. Jesus submitted to baptism (Matthew 3:16-17), and He told the disciples to go into all the world teaching and baptizing people (Matthew 28:19-20). However, there seems to be a lot of confusion about the purpose of baptism.

Baptism is not what you do to save yourself. It is what you do when realizing there is nothing you can do to save yourself. It is a submissive response to God's grace, in which you surrender your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. That is why every detailed conversion in the book of Acts mentions baptism. Here are some charts on the subject.

Baptism is not for Christians. It is for those who want to become Christians. After all, you do not bury the living but the dead. Scripture teaches that one is buried in baptism dead in sin and then is raised to new life. Paul calls it the "washing of rebirth" (Titus 3:5, NIV). Baptism is linked to forgiveness (Acts 2:38), cleansing (Ephesians 5:26), and salvation (1 Peter 3:21). We hope you will decide to experience this amazing grace of God for yourself!
